Structure of Active and Passive Voice in Simple Past Tense
Active Voice
Subject +II form of verb (V2)+ object
Passive Voice
Object + was/were
+ past participle (V3)+ by+ subject
Rules for changing from Active to Passive
1. Identify
the object in the active sentence and make it the subject of the passive
sentence.
2. Use
‘was/were’ according to the new subject (object of active voice)
3. Use
‘past participle (V3)’.
4. Write
the 'subject' in the end of passive after ‘by’ .
5. Unnecessary
subjects can be omitted.
