Here you can learn how to solve Physics Class 10 Light Numericals related to convex mirrors.
The focal length of a convex mirror is 2 m. A bus is located at a distance of 5m from the mirror. Find the position, nature, and size of the image.
Given values
Focal length(f) = 2 m
Distance of object(u) = - 5 m
Distance of image (v) =?
Magnification(m) =?
Nature of image =?
Solution
(i) . Distance of image (v)
`1/u+ 1/v=1/f`
`1/v= 1/f+ 1/u`
`1/v= 1/2+ 1/5`
`1/v=(5+2 )/10`
`1/v=7/10`
`v = 10/7`
`v= 1.428 m`
So, the image is formed at a distance of 1.428 m from the mirror.
(ii) . Magnification (m)
`m=-v/u`
`m=-1.428/(-5)`
`m=0.285`
(iii) Nature of image
(+) sign of v and m shows that the image is erect and
virtual.
