This solution to the question is based on the reflection of light class 10 numerical related to spherical mirrors. You can also watch the video to understand the light class 10 numerical.
An object is placed at a distance of 20 cm from a convex mirror of a focal length of 15 cm. Find the position, nature, and size of the image.
Given values
Distance of object(u) = - 20 cm
Focal length(f) = 15 cm
Position of image(v) =?
Size of image (m)=?
Nature of image =?
Solution
(i )Position of image (v)
`1/u+ 1/v=1/f`
`1/v= 1/f- 1/u`
`1/v= 1/15- 1/(-20)`
`1/v=(4+3 )/60`
`1/v=7/60`
`v= 60/7`
`v= 8.57 cm`
(ii). Magnification (size of image)
`m= - v/u`
`m= - 8.57/(-20)`
`m= 0.4285`
The value of m is less than 1 so the image is diminished.
(iii) Nature of image
(+) sign of m and v shows that the image is virtual and erect.
