Here you will learn Class 10 Physics Chapter 1 Numericals with Solutions and can watch the video to understand the question.
An object is placed 60 cm apart from a concave mirror of a focal length of 20 cm. Find the position, nature, and magnification of the image.
Given values
Object distance (u)= -60 cm
Focal length (f)= -20 cm
[focal length of concave mirror is
negative]
(i)Position of image (v) =?
`1/u+ 1/v=1/f`
`1/(-60)+ 1/v=1/(-20)`
`1/v=1/(-20)- 1/60`
`1/v=(-3 +1 )/60`
`1/v=(-2)/60`
`v=60/(-2)`
`v=-30 cm`
So image will be formed at a distance of 30 cm from the concave mirror.
(ii)Magnification
`m=-v/u`
`m=-((-30))/(-60)`
`m=-1/2`
Magnification = image is half in size
(iii)Nature of image
image is inverted and real
