Formulas of Chemistry Class 9 Chapter 1


Numerical questions on interchange units of temperature. There are mainly Celsius scale, Kelvin scale, and Fahrenheit scale are used to measure temperature.


i). Relation between Celsius scale and Kelvin scale


      `T(K)= t (℃) + 273`

      

ii). Relation between Fahrenheit scale and Celsius scale


       `℉= 9/5 (℃) + 32`

In this chapter Is Matter Around Us Pure, numerical questions on calculating the concentration of solutions/substances are asked in the examination. Following are the formulas of chapter 2 class 9 science

(i)     `v=\frac{s}{t}`

 

v= Average speed (m/s)

s= Total distance traveled (m)

t= total time taken (s)


 (ii)    `v_{av}=\ \frac{u\ +\ \ v}{2}`

 

`v_(av)` =  average velocity(m/s)

  u = initial velocity(m/s)

  v = final velocity (m/s)


  (iii)  `a\ =\ \frac{v-\ u}{t}`


a=acceleration (`ms^-2`)

v= final velocity (m/s)

u= initial velocity (m/s)

t= time taken (s)

(change in velocity = final velocity – initial velocity)


(iv)   Three equations of motion


(a)  `v=\ u\ +at`


(b)   `s=\ ut\ +\ \frac{1}{2}at^2`


(c)    `2as\ =\ v^2\ -\ u^2`


(v) Motion in the circular path

(i)  `\ P=\ mv`


P= Momentum (`Kg ms^-1`)

m =  mass (Kg)

v = velocity  (`ms^-1`)


(ii) Rate of change of momentum= `\frac{m\times(v-u)}{t}`


v= final velocity (m/s)

u=  initial velocity (m/s)


(iii) `F=ma` 


F= force  (`Kgms^-2`)  or Newton

m=mass (`Kg`)

a= acceleration (`ms^-2`)

 (i) Universal law of gravitation


      `F=G\ \frac{M\ m}{d^2}`


F = Force (N)

G = universal gravitation constant = `6.673 × 10^-11 N m^2 kg^-2`.

M= mass of body A(Kg)

m =mass of body B(Kg)

d= distance between body A and B (m)


(ii).  `G=\frac{Fd^2}{M\timesm}` (`N m^2 kg^-2`)



(iii)  Calculation of g (gravitational acceleration)


                  `g=\ G\frac{M}{d^2}`

              

           g   = gravitational acceleration (`ms^-2`)

           G = universal gravitation constant = `6.673 × 10^-11 N m2 kg–2`

           M =  mass of the earth (Kg)

           d = distance between earth and object (`m^2`)


            (iv)  Gravitational acceleration near the surface 


             `g=\ G\frac{M}{R^2}`

     

           R =  Radius of the earth(`m^2`)


            [  F = ma  ]

            [  F = mg  ]



           (v) Weight of an object on the moon

 

             `W_m=\frac{1}{6}\timesW_e`

 

            `W_m` = weight on the moon(`Kgms^-2`) or (N)

            `W_e` =  weight on the earth(`Kgms^-2`)  or (N)


            (vi)    `Pressure=\ \frac{Thrust}{Area}` 


             P =  Pressure (`Nm^-2`)

             F=Thrust (`N`)

             A= Area(`m^2`) 


              (vii) `Relative\ density = \frac{\text (density of   a substance)}{\text (density  of  water)}`

            (i)   W=Fs

        

          W= work done (Nm)   or (J)

           F= Force (N)

           s = displacement (m)


 (ii) `W=F\ s\ cos\theta`


            (iii)  `E_k=\frac{1}{2}mv^2`


            `E_k` = Kinetic energy(J)

            m= mass (Kg)

            v =velocity (`ms^-1`)


           (iv) `W=mgh`


           W = Potential energy (J)

           m= mass  

            g = gravitation acceleration (`9.8 ms^-2`)

           h = height/displacement (m)


           (v) `P=\frac{W}{t}`


            P = power (Joule/s )  or (Watt)

           W = work(J)

           t = time (s) 


            (vi)  Energy consumed

                   `=\frac{Power\times\ time}{1000}` (KWh or Unit)

            (i)  `v=\ \frac{1}{T}`


              v= Frequency (Hertz)

              T= Time period(s)


            (ii) `v=\frac{\lambda}{T}`


               `v = speed (ms^-1)`

              `\lambda` = wave length(m)

                T= time period (s)


              (iii)    `v=\ \lambda\upsilon`


                 v= speed (m/s)

                `\upsilon` = wavelength (m)

                `\lambda` = wave length(m)
