Activity 14.1 Class 8 Science Chapter Chemical Effects of Electric Current
Today we will discuss activity 14.1
class 8 science chapter 14 chemical effects of electric current. In this, You should also go through activity 14.2 of
chapter 14. In this activity 14.1, we will discuss why the bulb does not
glow and try to find the possible reasons.
You are suggested to study NCERT activity 14.1 class 8 science explanation with a conclusion so that you can attempt questions based on activity 14.1 class 8 science.
Activity
o Join the free ends of the tester together for a moment.
o This completes the circuit of the tester and the bulb should glow.
o However, if the bulb does not glow, it means that the tester is not working.
o Can you think of the possible reasons?
o Is it possible that the connections are loose? Or, the bulb is fused? Or, your cells are used up?
o Check that all the connections are tight.
o If they are, then replace the bulb with another bulb.
o Now test if the tester is working or not.
o If it is still not working then replace the cells with fresh cells.
Activity 14.1 Class 8 Science Chapter 14 Solution |
Observation and explanation
We connect the two ends of the tester with connecting wires, but the bulb does not glow.
Now we will find the possible reasons, why the bulb does not glow?
The following are the main reasons-
i. Tester is not working.
ii. Connections may be loose.
iii. Bulb may be fused.
iv. Cells are used up.
We should check all the things one by one.
First, we check the tester but still, the bulb does not
glow.
We tighten all the connections, but the bulb does not
glow.
Now we change the bulb, but the result is similar.
In the last, we replace the cells or battery with a new
one, and now we check again, and this time bulb starts glowing.
Conclusion
This activity 14.1 class 8 science shows that all the
components of an electric circuit must work properly.
