Activity 13.4 Class 8 Science Chapter
Sound

We have already discussed the relation between vibration and sound in activity
13.4, now we will find which part of musical instruments produce sound.
Activity
· Take
a hollow coconut shell and make a musical instrument ektara.
· You
can also make it with the help of an earthen pot.
· Play
this instrument and identify its vibrating part.
Observation and Explanation
Musical instruments like ektara, and guitar has metal
wires or strings to play music.
When a musician stretches these strings, vibrations
are produced and we can hear melodious music.
So stretched strings are the vibrating part of ektara
and other musical instruments.
We can see in the following video, the Guitar player is stretching the strings of the guitar that produces sound.
Conclusion
We can conclude that stretched strings are the
vibrating parts of musical instruments like ektara and guitar.
