Activity 11.4 Class 8 Science Force and Pressure
In this post, you will find NCERT
Science Class 8 Chapter 11 Force and Pressure activity 11.4 with a complete explanation and conclusion. After reading
this, you will be able to answer the questions based on the activity.
You are suggested to study NCERT activity 11.4 class 8 science explanation with a conclusion so that you can attempt questions based on activity 11.4 Class 8 science.
Activity 11.4 Class 8 Science
· Take
a ball and place it on a level surface as you did in Activity 11.3.
· Make
the ball move by giving it a push [Fig. (a)].
· Now
place a ruler in its path as shown in Fig. (b).
· In
doing so, you would apply a force on the moving ball.
· Does
the ball continue to move in the same direction after it strikes the ruler?
· Repeat
the activity and try to obstruct the moving ball by placing the ruler in such a
way that it makes different angles to its path.
· In
each case note your observations about the direction of motion of the ball
after it strikes the ruler.
Activity 11.4 Class 8 Science Chapter 11 Solution |
Observation and explanation
When a ball is pushed, it starts moving in a
particular direction with the initial velocity ‘u’.
Now we place a ruler in front of the ball, and the ball
strikes the ruler and moves in another direction with velocity ‘v’.
A change in either the speed of an object, its
direction of motion, or both, is described as a change in its state of motion.
Thus, a force may bring a change in the state of motion of an object.
Conclusion
We can conclude that a force can change the state of
motion.
