chapter 9 explanation with a conclusion so that you can attempt questions based
on the activity 9.1 class 9 science.
Activity 9.1 Class 9 Science
· Make
a pile of similar carom coins on a table.
· Attempt
a sharp horizontal hit at the bottom of the pile using another carom coin or
the striker. If the hit is strong enough, the bottom coin moves out quickly. Once
the lowest coin is removed, the inertia of the other coins makes them fall
vertically on the table.
Observation Activity 9.1 Class 9 Science
If the hit is strong enough, the bottom coin moves out
quickly and after that, the upper coins fall vertically on the board due to
inertia o rest.
Explanation Activity 9.1 Class 9 Science
This happens due to inertia. An object has a tendency
to resist change in its state of motion.
A moving object tends to keep moving or an object
tends to remain in the rest, this property of an object is called ‘Inertia’.
So, a strong external force is needed to break the inertia.
When we Strick the coin hard, it moves outward. But at the same time rest
upper coins remain in the rest.
Conclusion Activity 9.1 Class 9 Science
This activity 9.1 show the ‘law of inertia'.
