Observation and explanation of activity 1.5 class 9 science
In day-to-day life, we perform many physical and mental
activities that needed energy.
To understand this, we consider the following examples-
i. Reading books, discussing any topic with friends, watching T.V. etc are mental activities. These activities needed energy but these are not considered as ‘work’
ii. Pushing a pebble, pushing a box, lifting a book, and pulling a trolley are some examples that are considered as ‘work,
When we push a pebble, we exerted a force and the pebble
got displaced.
When we push a box, we apply some force and the box got
displaced to some distance.
In pulling a trolley and lifting a book, a force is exerted
and the things got displaced.
So now we can say ‘ when a force is applied to any
object and the object got displaced, then work is done.’
After understanding this, we can answer the questions
asked above.
i.
Work is being done on the pebble, box, book, etc.
ii.
Pebble/box/book move or got displaced.
iii. The
applied force is doing the work.
Conclusion of activity 1.5 class 9 science
