10.7 class 10 science.
You will find a complete explanation with a conclusion.
After studying
this activity 10.7 Class 10 Science Light- Reflection
and Refraction, you will be able to solve Questions of Chapter 10
Light- Reflection and Refraction.
Activity 10.7 Class 10 Science NCERT
· Place a coin at the bottom of a bucket filled with water.
· With your eye to a side above water, try to pick up the coin in one go. Did you succeed in picking up the coin?
· Repeat the activity. Why did you not succeed in doing it in one go?
· Ask your friends to do this, and compare your experience with theirs.
Observation of activity 10.7 Class 10 Science
The coin in the beaker is seen in another
position.
Explanation of activity 10.7 Class 10 Science
When we view the coin with our eyes above
water, we see the image of the coin in another position.
When we try to pick up the coin in one go,
we do not succeed in doing so because we move our hand up to position ‘B’ which
is the apparent position.
When our friends try to do the same, they do not succeed. This happens due to the refraction of light.
When light passes from one transparent medium to another, it bends.
This phenomenon is called the refraction of light.
This depends upon the density of the medium. When light passes from a denser medium to a rarer medium, it bends away from the normal and when it passes
from a rarer to a denser medium, it bends towards the normal.
Conclusion of activity 10.7 Class 10 Science
this activity 10.7 demonstrate the
refraction of a light ray. Refraction happens when a light ray passes from one
transparent medium to another obliquely.
