Explain NCERT Class 10 Science Activity 10.2 Solution
In this article,
we will discuss activity
10.2 class 10 science.
You will find a complete explanation with a conclusion.
After studying
this activity 10.2 Class 10 Science Light- Reflection
and Refraction, you will be able to solve Questions of Chapter 10 Light-
Reflection and Refraction.
Activity 10.2 Class 10 Science
·
Hold a concave mirror in
your hand and direct its reflecting surface towards the sun.
·
Direct the light reflected
by the mirror onto a sheet of paper held close to the mirror.
·
Move the sheet of paper
back and forth gradually until you find on the paper sheet a bright, sharp spot
of light.
·
Hold the mirror and the
paper in the same position for a few minutes. What do you observe, and why?
Observation of activity 10.2 class 10 science
The paper burns and catches fire when reflected
light from the concave mirror falls on the paper.
Explanation of activity 10.2 class 10 science
The sun acts as an object and is situated at infinity.
The light rays coming from the sun incident on the concave mirror and after
reflection concentrate at a point called the focus point of the mirror.
A spot is formed on the paper sheet and
this spot is point sized, a real image of the sun at the focus point of the concave
mirror.
If we hold the paper for minutes at the same
position, the paper starts burning because the sun rays concentrate at a point after
reflection and produce heat.
Conclusion of activity 10.2 class 10 science
This activity shows that a parallel beam
of light coming from an object placed at infinity (in this case – the sun)
incident on the concave mirror, a real, inverted, and point-sized image is
formed.
