Observation and explanation
of Activity 10.13 Class 10 Science
We place a burning
candle on the left side of the concave lens at different positions and find the
images. We observe an erect virtual and smaller image is formed on the same
side of the lens.
The image is not real so it cannot be received on the screen.
(i) At infinity - When the object is placed at infinity, image is formed at Focus on the same side of the concave lens.
Nature of image –
Virtual and erect
Position of image –
at F1
Size of image – highly diminished
(ii) Between infinity and lens at any place - When the object is placed between infinity and lens, image is formed at the same side of the concave lens.
Nature of image –
Virtual and erect
Position of image –
on the same side of the lens as the object
Size of image –
diminished
Position of the object | Position of the image | Size of the image | nature of the image |
---|---|---|---|
At infinity | At F1 | Highly diminished | Virtual and erect |
Between infinity and lens | same side to that of object | Diminished | Virtual and erect |
