Explain NCERT Class 10 Science Activity 10.1 Solution Chapter 10
In this article,
we will discuss activity
10.1 class 10 science.
You will find a complete explanation with a conclusion.
After studying
this activity 10.1 Class 10 Science Light- Reflection
and Refraction, you will be able to solve Questions of Chapter 10 Light-
Reflection and Refraction.
Activity 10.1 Class 10 Science
·
Take a large shining spoon. Try to view your face in its
curved surface.
·
Do you get the image? Is it smaller or larger?
·
Move the spoon slowly away from your face. Observe the image.
How does it change?
·
Reverse the spoon and repeat the activity. What does the image
look like now?
·
Compare the characteristics of the image on the two surfaces.
Observation and Explanation of activity 10.1 class 10 science
The
inner side of the spoon acts as a concave mirror. When we see our face in the spoon, our
face becomes an object which lies between pole(P) and focus(F) of the concave side of the spoon.
An
enlarged and erect image is formed behind the spoon.
When
we move the spoon slowly from our face, we can observe the following situations
i.
When the face is at the focus of the spoon, a highly enlarged and inverted
image is formed at infinity.
ii.
When the face is between focus and the center of curvature of the spoon, an enlarged and
inverted image is formed.
iii.
When the face is at the center of curvature C, an inverted and same-size of the image is formed.
iv.
When our face lies beyond C, a diminished and
inverted image is formed.
v.
When our face is far away from the spoon, a highly
diminished and inverted image is formed
When
we reverse the spoon outward the curved side of the spoon acts as a convex mirror.
i.
When we see our face
in the spoon, a virtual, diminished, and erect image is formed
ii.
When we move the spoon slowly from the face, the image remains
virtual, erect, and diminished.
Conclusion of activity 10.1 class 10 science
Activity
10.1 illustrate the position, nature, and size of images formed by the concave and
convex sides of the spoon.
