NCERT activity 1.1 Class 9 Science with conclusion

Observation

During this activity, the level of water in the beaker remains the same. The drop of the solution tastes sweet and the sugar crystals are not visible in the solution.

Explanation

The particles of salt or sugar are distributed in water and form a homogenous solution.  These solute particles settle down in the spaces of solvent particles.

Conclusion

This activity shows that the matter consists of small particles. There are some vacant spaces called voids. When sugar is added to water and gets mixed well then, the empty spaces are occupied by sugar particles.

So it dissolves and forms a uniform solution of water with sugar.
