In this post, you will learn Activity 6.5 NCERT class 10 science Life Process which is based on NCERT solutions class 10 science chapter 6.
You can learn objects, material required, procedure, observation, and conclusion of activity 6.5 NCERT class 10 science life processes.
Activity 6.5
Object
– To find the product produced by the fermentation process
Material Required:
Two test tubes, fruit juice or 10% glucose solution, yeast, cork with a hole,
twice bent glass tube or the delivery tube, lime water, non-drying oil.
Procedure: (i) Take fresh
juice in a test tube and mix yeasts in it.
(ii) Put a drop of non-drying oil over the surface
of the juice. Now the juice will not remain in contact with the air of the
tube.
(iii) Fit a single holed cork having a delivery tube
over the mouth of this test tube. This end of the delivery tube should not be
dipped in fruit Juice.
(iv) Dip the other free end of the delivery tube into
another test tube having freshly prepared lime water.
Observation:
After some time the mixture (juice + yeast) becomes frothy. Bubbles of gas
emerge and pass into lime water, which turns milky after some time. When this
mixture is smelled after removing the cork it smells of alcohol.
Inference:
Yeast respires anaerobically in the absence of oxygen. In this process of
fermentation, alcohol is produced and carbon dioxide is released.
